Bigger, Better, Meaner: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V First Ride Review

January 27, 2016 by Aninda Sardar Leave a Comment

Bigger, Better, Meaner (6)

Replacing the old digital-analogue combination instrumentation of the old Apache is an all new all-digital instrument panel, which incorporates a rev counter, speedo, fuel gauge, odometer, two trip meters and a multi-info readout with a host of information. There is also a gear shift indicator, and telltales for service reminder and low battery warning.

The bike is powered by an all-new 197.75 cc air cooled single cylinder four-valve SOHC engine with an oil cooler – the latter is a first in the Apache RTR series. The engine also gets the benefit of a much needed counter balancer and as a result feels quite refined. Notably, even after nearly two hours of whizzing around the TVS test track there was none of the familiar tingling in the palms that Apache riders are so used to. At least, nothing significant enough to mention.
