TVS Raider Connected Variant Launched

October 20, 2022 by Sumesh Soman Leave a Comment

TVS Raider Connected Variant launched for Rs 99,990 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and it makes way for a new 5-inch TFT display for the digital LCD display on the standard variant. There is a voice assist feature as well.

The Raider is never out of place in the urban space

TVS Raider Connected Variant now comes with a TFT display making provisions for Bluetooth tethering of the phone to the vehicle, one can receive notification alerts, weather forecast and turn-by-turn navigation as well. An interesting feature is how the bike navigates to the closest petrol pump automatically when there is a low fuel warning. Savvy!

With the addition of voice recognition, the rider can now control multiple functions just by asking the bike to do so, it includes using navigation, engaging music and adjusting brightness to name a few.

The bike still houses the same 124.8 cc, air and oil-cooled single cylinder engine mated to a five sped gearbox that puts out 11.4 hp at 7,500 rpm and 11.2 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. The two riding modes: Eco and Power alter the acceleration as the name respectively indicates. A standard telescopic unit at the front and a monoshock at the rear takes care of suspension duties and the bike runs on 17-inch alloy wheels. Braking is done by a combi-braking system that has a petal disc at the front and a drum unit at the rear. The company claims a 0-60 km/h in 5.9 seconds and the top speed is rated at 99 km/h.

The new connected variant only comes with alloy wheels and goes up against the likes of Hero Glamour XTEC. The Connected Variant is the most affordable bike with a TF display and it comes with two colour options:  black and yellow. The current price tag is introductory, chances are that it may hike up in the future. The drum and disc brake variants are priced at Rs 85,973 and Rs 93,489, respectively.

TVS Raider 125 Wins the IMOTY 2022

March 10, 2022 by Glen Francis Leave a Comment

The 2022 IMOTY saw a few new members enter the jury as a new winner was crowned.

Said to be the ultimate prize of the best motorcycle in the country, the Indian Motorcycle Of The Year Award happens every year with a panel of the top-most journalists of our country evaluating the vehicles on various parameters to crown a deserving motorcycle of the year.

In order to get into the nominations of the IMOTY, the vehicle must be manufactured between 1 December 2020 and 30 November 2021 and is usually a more mass-selling model, instead of a premium or, rather, an expensive one.

This year’s competitors were quite a mix of various genres of motorcycling, here’s the list: Benelli TRK 251, Bajaj Pulsar NS125, Bajaj Pulsar F250 and N250. Honda CB200X, Royal Enfield Classic 350, TVS Raider 125 and the Yamaha FZ-X.

The motorcycles are judged on the basis of various aspects, such as price, fuel efficiency, styling, comfort, safety, performance, practicality, technical innovation, value for money, and suitability for Indian riding conditions.

With big names on the list and some very interesting motorcycles too, we’re sure the judges did have a tough time deciding on a winner, however, the TVS Raider 125 took the crown for the Indian Motorcycle of the Year 2022.

zNow that we’ve told you about the motorcycles, here’s a list of the members who make the ICOTY jury – Aspi Bhathena (Editor, Bike India), Sarmad Kadiri (Executive Editor, Bike India), Shivank Bhatt (Road Test Editor, AutoX), Rahul Ghosh (Associate Editor, Auto Today), Dipayan Dutta (Senior Special Correspondent, Auto Today), Bertrand D’Souza (Editor, OVERDRIVE), Rohit Paradkar (Asst Editor, OVERDRIVE), Sirish Chandran (Editor, Evo India), Aatish Mishra (Asst Editor, Evo India), Kartik Ware (Managing Editor, Motoring World), Janak Sorap (Features Writer, Motoring World), Vikrant Singh (Editor, Bikewale), Kranti Sambhav (Editor, Times Drive) and Abhay Verma (Editor, TURBOCHARGED)

TVS Raider 125 Rivals – Motorcycles under Rs 80,000

September 28, 2021 by Team Bike India Leave a Comment

The Honda SP 125 sells like hot cakes and with interesting sales figures, the Hero Glamour poses strong competition. The recently-launched Bajaj Pulsar 125 is also quite an interesting offering. The latest entrant in the 125-cc segment is the TVS Raider. TVS did try their luck at the 125-cc segment with motorcycles such as the Victor GLX 125, Flame, and the Phoenix but failed to see the success they were looking for in the market. Now after a period of four years, TVS are back in the game with their sporty commuter – the Raider 125.
