Supercharged trike

March 4, 2011 by Bike India Team Leave a Comment

Tim ‘Frogman’ Cotterill’s Rocket II Trike is plain insane

Many would agree, when I say there is a thin line between genius and insanity and most men try to keep the balance right. When the rest of the automotive world is trying to go green with hybrids and alternative fuel, Tim ‘Frogman’ Cotterill, a metal sculptor by trade, has made the Rocket II Trike.

Everything about the Rocket II is ridiculously over the top, with a supercharged 7.0 liter HEMI V8 and a BDS 8-71 supercharger, belting out 1000 hp (yes, three zeros) and almost as big as a football field in length, it can touch triple digit speed figures in a few seconds managing a top speed of 260 kmph. Weighing in at over 1,200 kg and a fuel economy about 1.2 km/l it may seem Tim is waging a war against the greens on road. This heavy three wheeler is steered using a wheel machined from a billet and a front swing arm made from ¼ – inch steel plate featuring adjustable rosejoints to allow wheel castor and camber.

The Rocket II trike is built as an ode to sheer excessiveness of power.

Cigarette Racing 42X Ducati Edition

In what may be called a unique collaboration two performance icons have come together to unveil a power boat that will definitely blow you away. Cigarette Racing, a well-known power boat brand that is counted among the top brands in the world, recently showcased a marine machine, called the 42X, in association with Ducati, a motorcycle brand that has been associated with speed and performance for more than half-a-century now. The 42X is a pure performance power boat that is dipped in luxury for the upper crust of the society. This speed machine is equipped with twin 1,100 horsepower engines that produce exhilarating power to propel the beast to a top speed of 104 nautical miles, which is the equivalent of 193 km/h overland. However, the highlight of the 42X will be its special Ducati livery. Not only that, the interior will also feature the Italian marque’s colours along with a specially designed stereo system from JL audio. This is one hot product aficionados will cherish. Prices and other details can be found on www.cigaretteracing.com

Mahindra in the fast lane

Mahindra Racing
tests its MotoGP bike

As speed

met balance and grace met power, Mahindra became India’s first automotive company

to test its official bike the GP125 in its corporate colors, on a the final day

at the predominantly wet, windy and cold Estoril circuit in Portugal.
The

Indian team was present at the circuit with riders Danny Webb and Marcel

Schrotter along with team principal Mufaddal Choonia.

While

the wet and windy conditions were not very conducive for testing bikes, 19 year

old Webb clocked in a few lap times even as his team mate, struggled to get onto

the track with a heavy downpour. Mahindra’s own Italy based Engines Engineering

have designed their GP125. They ran the bike in its red and silver livery only

for a few laps before switching back to plain black.

With

its popularity and now an Indian team to cheer for, Mahindra could certainly hope

for a loyal fan following in India for its MotoGP team competing in the 125cc

category. Mahindra Racing team will be present for the three day testing at

Jerez, Spain from March 4-6.

Victory on Indian roads!

February 22, 2011 by Bike India Team Leave a Comment

The US based-bike manufacturing company planning to enter Indian market by next year

Victory Motorcycles, US-based company is looking forward to participate in next year’s Delhi Auto Expo and maybe enter Indian market in second half of next year, depending on the response they get at the Expo. Following the success of Harley Davidson, which sold on an average more than 2 units every three days this calender year, Victory Motorcycles, manufacturing luxury touring bikes, classic-styled motorcycles and inter-state cruisers, is keen on entering the growing motorcycle market here. The company is aiming to introduce models that would be best suitable for Indian riding conditions and roads. Harley managing to get its costs as low as Rs 5.5 lakh for their basic model, Victory Motorcycles will face tough competition as their price range is between Rs 5.68 lakh and Rs 12.73 lakh internationally. With Indian government’s high import duties the price of these bikes will effectively be doubled since they will be imported as CBU’s.  The Indian bike enthusiast will have to wait and watch out for next year’s Auto Expo and hope, that just maybe the import duty rates are relaxed a bit.
