Aprilia SR 150 Launched in India

August 10, 2016 by Jim Gorde Leave a Comment

Aprilia SR 150 web

After all the teasing, the Aprilia SR 150 moto-scooter from the Italian icon is finally available on sale in India, priced at an unbelievable Rs 65,000 (ex-showroom).

The new SR 150 is the second scooter from Aprilia, much smaller than the absolutely bonkers SRV 850, but still the most exciting one on offer. The radical styling, especially the aero-inspired sweeping design all make it seem like rain in a parched desert. There are few alternatives, if any at all, in this breed of scooter, and, considering the price, it seems like an absolute steal.

The twin headlamps, lean bodywork, 32-mm telescopic front fork, 14-inch polished black wheels with wide 120-section tyres and a standard 220-mm front disc brake, make it immensely attractive and instantly identifiable as one with serious sport credentials. At the heart, is the 154.4-cc engine taken from the Vespa 150. It still puts out the same 11.6 PS at 7,000 RPM and 11.5 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 RPM, flowing through to the rear wheel via variomatic drive. The fuel tank, however, is still just 6 litres.

The new SR 150 will hit MotoPlex showrooms first, before a launch across India in a phased manner.

EDIT: The official launch is scheduled for August 22nd and bookings are now open. A refundable Rs 2,000 is all it takes to be among the first to get your hands on the exciting new SR 150.

In recent years, however, the MT-10 has begun to show its age, especially in terms of technology and rider aids. It was always on the thirsty side, too, and, by modern standards, the brakes were lacking. It was time for an update, which is why for 2022 Yamaha introduced a new MT-10 earlier this year.
