Ola S1 Pro – Need to Know

November 17, 2021 by Azaman Chothia Leave a Comment

We were recently invited to get a look at the Ola S1 Pro EV and ride it to bring you our first impressions.

The Ola Electric scooters have been a hot topic of conversation since they were teased. Bookings went live for a token amount of Rs 500 and the hype was real with a ton of units getting sold out within minutes. Out here we have the top-of-the-line S1 Pro variant sporting the glossy Jet Black colour scheme.

There were many claims from Ola regarding the specifications of the scooters and on paper, they looked very promising. Unfortunately for this ride, we were given the scooter inside a gated community for a very short period of time and the location did not allow us to do any kind of actual testing. So for now, we can only speak about some aspects of the S1 Pro.

The styling is simplistic with the large body panels flowing and merging into what appears to be a blend of a classic scooter design complimented with futuristic elements. The battery in this EV is situated inside the floorboard of the scooter. It is powered by an 8.5-kW (11.6 hp) electric motor with a continuous output of 5.5 kW (7.5 hp) and gets a 3.97-kWh battery. The S1 Pro is claimed to be able to do a top-speed run of 115 km/h. and is said to take a good 6.30 hours to fully charge and a fast charger will be able to provide enough juice for 75 km in approximately 18 minutes. But like I said earlier, all of these are just claims and we have no way of actually telling you about it

November 16, 2021 by Glen Francis Leave a Comment

The updated Aprilia SR has been introduced for 2022. The SR 125 has been priced at Rs 1.07 lakh ex-showroom while the SR 160 will set you back Rs 1.17 lakh ex-showroom. The scooters have been updated quite heavily in terms of styling. However, sees no change in power figures.

On the styling front, the SRs get an all-new LED headlamp, split seat, a revised tail lamp with an ‘X’ design and a split seat as well. The SR 160 now gets handguards along with panels with a carbon-fibre-like finish.

The motors on both, the SR 125 and the SR 160, see no change in terms of power. The 125-cc air-cooled motor still churns out a 9.52 hp while the SR 160 makes 11 hp and 11.6 Nm.

Is the Suzuki Burgman Electric Launching Soon?

November 11, 2021 by Glen Francis Leave a Comment

The Japanese major is set to launch a new two-wheeler on 18 November; could it be the Suzuki Burgman Electric?

We’ve already seen quite a few spy shots of the Burgman electric online. Suzuki two-wheelers have confirmed to be launching a new product on 18 November. And by the looks of it, we expect this to be the all-new Burgman Electric. This would be Suzuki’s very first step into the EV space in India.

Ducati Hypermotard Range Launched from Rs 12.99 lakh

November 10, 2021 by Glen Francis Leave a Comment

The new Ducati Hypermotard range, including the SP and the RVE, has been brought in to India.

Ducati India have launched the Hypermotard family back in India in BS6 guise. The range starts with the Hypermotard 950 RVE, priced at Rs 12.99 lakh, and, finally, the Hypermotard 950 SP priced at Rs 16.24 lakh (all ex-showroom).

Ducati have always stayed true to a very aggressive design language when it comes to the Hypermotard. A sleek front with a long beak, chiselled bodylines and an upswept tail complemented by underseat exhausts. The RVE gets a rowdy-looking custom livery while the SP on the other hand gets its iconic red, white and black colour scheme with SP decals all over the bike.

Suzuki GSX-S1000: Suzuki’s Bargain Still Packs a Punch

November 10, 2021 by Team Bike India Leave a Comment

Disregard the attractive price tag for a moment, because Suzuki have uprated the 150-hp naked bike for 2021. The engine is now Euro 5-compliant, revs an extra 1,000 rpm, and, although quoted peak torque is down, Suzuki assure us the torque curve is smoother and fatter than earlier. There are new electronics, a new dash, an up-and-down quick-shifter as standard, and conventional traction control (TC) with greater refinement. There is a bold new look as well

This is more of a tweak than a complete overhaul and, remember, the roots of this engine date back to the GSX-R1000 K5 from 2005. Capacity, bore and stroke, and compression are the same as before, with new camshafts, camchain, and valve springs, along with a new slipper clutch among the most significant changes. There is also a completely new exhaust (to meet Euro 5 norms) along with smaller and lighter electronically controlled throttle bodies. The 40-millimetre throttle bodies (down from 44 mm) have been designed to give a smoother feeling upon opening.

The end result is an increase from 150 hp at 10,000 rpm to 152 hp at 11,000 — not a huge step. However, the increase in rpm is interesting. Peak torque is down from 108 Nm at 9,500 rpm to 106 Nm at 9,250 rpm, but the all-important torque curve is now smoother, with a noticeable increase in the mid-to-high rpm range.

The Suzuki sounds a little old school and makes a charismatic induction noise much like an older GSX-R1000. I do not mean this to be derogatory, far from it. I have always liked the sound of the in-line four-cylinder; it sounds meaty.
