Spidi Progressive Net Windout Riding Jacket Review

March 4, 2025 by Joshua Varghese Leave a Comment

Following a few months of usage, here is what we observed with the Spidi Progressive Net Windout riding jacket.

Spidi Progressive Net Windout

Spidi are a riding gear company that have been around since 1977 and they are a globally reputed manufacturer. In our experience, Spidi products are made to high standards; they fit well and last long. So, we had great expectations from the Spidi Progressive Net Windout sport-touring jacket.

The Spidi Progressive Net Windout is essentially a summer jacket which means it has the all-weather capability that our country’s predominantly tropical weather demands. It is worth noting that it comes with two linings; one for the cold and one for rain but I rarely ever needed them. In terms of protection, we are not particularly pleased with what is offered as standard. Warrior Two Elite units protect the elbows and shoulders which are satisfactory but a component as crucial as the back protector has to be purchased separately. Our first reaction was to just use one of the many units we had lying around which was when we discovered that only a Spidi unit would fit in the jacket. Smart, but not good news for the customer. Also, this garment is rated “CE Class A” which means it meets the minimum requirements for abrasion and impact resistance.

Royal Enfield Interceptor Bear 650

In terms of colour and style, Spidi are among the most fashionable manufacturers of riding gear and this jacket stands out like a breath of fresh air when compared to other products in this price range that are available in India. The big reflective panel at the back further adds to visibility on the road in low-light conditions. What we liked best is the fit. Since it weighs only 1.5 kg, it wraps around one’s torso like a second skin and is extremely breathable which enabled us to tackle the harshest parts of summer without worry. Its layered construction also offers a decent level of insulation on those morning rides when the air is cold and crisp.

Suzuki GSX-8R

At Rs 25,399, this is not a budget bargain. It is clearly for those who prefer the higher quality, acute attention to detail and cosseting fit offered exclusively by premium riding gear. Spidi products are now available in India thanks to the efforts of Reise Moto. They handle the import of these garments and have even set up dedicated showrooms in Mumbai and Pune where customers can try these products on for fit before purchasing them. At the end of the day, even the best brands in the world are no good if they do not fit well.
