Three mid-range adventure bikes to hit the market next year
The F series of GS bikes by BMW have for years provided riders with great adaptability on the road as well as off it. These three all-new machines are set to take that legacy further, and for the 2017 model year they are all Euro 4 compliant. All three bikes are powered by a 798 cc inline twin, and all get modern conveniences such as ride-by-wire and riding modes. The differences lie in their off-road capabilities. The entry-level F 700 GS is built as an everyday ride for a biker who enjoys the feel of an enduro machine, but for who off-road competence is not that important. The bike features a lower seat than its predecessor, and combines sufficient power with excellent fuel efficiency. The F 800 GS is a little more suited to the rough stuff, while the F 800 GS Adventure is a proper travel motorcycle, for riders who wish to explore far beyond the reaches of marked roads. In addition to the Road and Rain riding modes that come standard on all three bikes, the F 800 GS and the F 800 GS Adventure can be equipped with optional Enduro and Enduro Pro modes, designed to stretch the off-road capabilities of these machines.
