Will the India-bound Kawasaki train have a Z650 onboard?
Being the latest in the Z super-naked series there is a lot riding on the Z650. It is powered by a 650-cc, parallel-twin engine that produces 68 PS and 65.7 Nm of torque. With a fuel capacity of 15 litres, range is not something that could trouble this machine. The engine has been forced to concentrate on delivering low-end and mid-range power. This move inspires the younger riders to take more risks and approach motorcycling without an apprehensive attitude.
The power-plant is comfortably packed into a high-tensile steel trellis frame. Kawasaki takes design to the next level by giving the Z650 a Sugomi styling treatment as seen in its larger sibling, the Z1000. Sugomi styling focuses on low stance and a wind-swept look making it an instantly recognisable silhoutte among its competition. To make sure that it isn’t mistaken for anything other than a super-naked, the taillight has been redesigned to light up like a “Z”. Probably, the best feature to avoid confusion with an ER-6n. The new chassis, low seat height and the incredible weight loss makes this motorcycle handle with the precision of a scalpel.
The Z650 is expected to be priced around Rs 5.5 lakh in India.
