First Impression: Triumph Bonneville T120 and T120 Black

October 30, 2015 by Ravi Chandnani

Inspired by the original Bonneville T120 of 1959, the new T120 is here to recreate nostalgia in a modern way

The new Triumph Bonneville range would not have been complete if it weren’t for this bike. Bringing back the T120 name meant that the new bike had to look the part and Triumph seems to have nailed it. After all, the design is inspired by the original T120 of 1959. The peashooter exhaust, the sculpted tank, twin-throttle bodies that mimic the authentic Amal carbs found on the original bike and the amazing wire wheels all make this new Bonneville T120 a classic piece of art.

In fact, the T120 looks more authentic than the outgoing T100. The T120 Black on the other hand takes you to the dark side. It retains the Bonneville’s core DNA but with a heavy dose of black. The glossy ‘Jet Black’ paint job reminds you of the classic British motorcycles that once dominated the roads in Europe and quite a handful were even seen on Indian roads as well. The Black is special because it adheres to today’s trends despite its retro looks. Today young buyers are looking for a motorcycle that would not only look cool but also look mean and the T120 Black delivers exactly that. I like the black finish however, the matt finish Graphite paint job makes it even more appealing for me.
