KTM have finally let the cat out of the bag, the 400 Adventure is coming!

With the 1050 Adventure being as large and powerful as it was, there was a massive market for KTM to cater to lower down the displacement order. The 390 Duke and RC 390 have created a buzz like very few others and now, they are set to further expand with their popular platform.

The new 400 Adventure will use the same 373.2cc single-cylinder FI, DOHC four-valve motor, but tuned to produced slightly more torque at a lower rev range. The motor now makes 42.7 PS at 8,500 RPM, but 35.5 Nm at a more usable 6,750 RPM. The gearing too has been altered in tune with its dual-purpose characteristics. Another big change is the addition of a 19-litre tank, which should take care of range anxiety for many tourers. The front wheels is now a 90/90-19, with the rear 150/60-17 becoming more rough-ready. The weight, a credible 185 kg, dry.

The 400 Adventure will offer several accessories, including adjustable wind-screen, Akrapovic high exhaust end-can and of course, several decal options.

The 400 Adventure should be launched around June this year with a price tag of about Rs 2.75 lakh. If only that were true, we hope KTM take heed of our April Fool’s Day wishful thinking and build upon it.
