The Rising Star: Suzuki Gixxer

Suzuki Motorcycle recently launched their 155-cc motorcycle, the Gixxer. It looks good for sure, but how well does it perform? Let’s take a look.

Suzuki Motorcycle India had been keen on a brand-new bike that would attract the youth and also wear a competitive price-tag. The result is the Gixxer. This 155-cc street sport motorcycle was born from the lineage of the GSX-R series and also derives its name from it. Globally, the GSX-R1000 owners are called ‘Gixxers’ and Suzuki thought it would only be fitting that the younger sibling in this rich heritage be called the Gixxer.

The styling of the Gixxer is said to be based on functional beauty, keeping things simple yet good-looking. The overall design of the bike gives off a sporty vibe. The chiselled lines of the bikini fairing flow smoothly down to the dual-tone side panels and on to the sharp rear end, which houses an LED tail-lamp. Adding to the sporty look of the bike is a short and stubby twin exhaust coupled with a rear mono shock.

Turning the key brings the mobile-shaped digital instrument console to life, displaying all the information you need, including the gear position. The designers at Suzuki have made sure you identify easily with the display and have worked in the ‘Select’ and ‘Adjust’ buttons seamlessly into the overall look.
