The Royal Enfield Meteor 350 has finally been launched in India and has been priced between Rs 1.75 lakh and Rs 1.90 lakh (ex-showroom prices).

The Royal Enfield Meteor 350 has been spotted testing for quite a while now and there has been a lot of hype with regards to the launch of this model. The motorcycle is based on the company’s brand-new J-platform and this BS6 model will replace the Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 X. There will be three variants on offer – the entry variant is called the Fireball, followed by the Stellar and finally the top-end Supernova variant.

The Royal Enfield Meteor 350 looks similar to the Thunderbird X and has retained most of the ergonomics with a raised handlebar, wide seat, and foot-pegs that have been set forward. The Royal Enfield Meteor 350 has been developed with a new BS6, 349-cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine which puts out 20.5 hp at 6,100 rpm and a peak torque of 27 Nm at 4,000 rpm.

The bike uses a twin-downtube spine frame chassis and the suspension setup comprises a 41-mm fork at the front and twin-tube shock absorbers with six-step adjustable preload at the rear. The braking hardware used on the motorcycle is a 300-mm disc at the front and a 270-mm disc at the rear with dual-channel ABS.

Other features that can be seen are a twin-pod instrument cluster, a ring-shaped LED DRL around the headlight and alloy wheels (19-inch front and 17-inch rear). The new Royal Enfield Meteor 350 will be available with a whole bunch of accessories and customization options including things like a windshield, panniers, custom footpegs, seat options, and much more. The bike will also get over 15 tank colour options to choose from.

The Thunderbird 350X was priced at Rs 1.63 lakh (ex-showroom) and this marks an increase of Rs 12,000 for the entry-level Fireball variant. This price hike was expected considering the BS6 engine and all the new features on offer. The Meteor 350 will rival the likes of the Jawa and Benelli Imperiale 400.
