One could hardly say that the Malaysian round of MotoGP 2015 was good for one Valentino Rossi. Most would say, he’s hit rock bottom this season and a huge challenge lies ahead if he is to take the World Title. However, Valencia isn’t the only challenge that lies ahead. In a bizarre twist of fate, a new challenger has arisen from the house of Yamaha to take the fight straight to this living legend. This time, it’s not even a human but Yamaha’s new Motobot, which the company showed to the world at the Tokyo Motor Show. Click on the link below to see what the fuss is all about:

The Motobot Ver.1 is Yamaha’s technology exhibit at the Tokyo Motor Show. It is an autonomous motorcycle-riding humanoid robot built around a fusion of Yamaha’s motorcycle and robotics technology. R&D is currently underway with the goal of developing the robot to ride an unmodified motorcycle on a racetrack at more than 200 km/h. The task of controlling the complex motions of a motorcycle at high speeds requires a variety of control systems that must function with a high degree of accuracy. We want to apply the fundamental technology and know-how gained in the process of this challenge to the creation of advanced rider safety and rider-support systems and put them to use in our current businesses, as well as using them to pioneer new lines of business.
