Michelin have announced their entry into the scooter tyre market in India, with the launch of the Michelin City Pro tyre range for scooters and motorcycles up to 150 cc.

The Michelin City Pro tyre range is the latest generation of scooter and motorcycle tyres specifically-designed for intensive urban use. The Michelin City Pro is robust, which reduces the risk of punctures, and sports a new tread pattern with large circumferential grooves to give better grip in wet conditions. The sizes available for now are 2.75-17 41P tubeless (front) and 3.00-17 50P tubeless (rear) for motorcycles, as well as 90/100-10 53J tubeless (front and rear) for scooters.

Commenting on the launch, Pradeep G Thampy, Commercial Director, Two Wheels, Michelin Asia, said, “Scooters have become increasingly popular in India and emerged as a preferred choice of commuting because of ease of riding and parking in congested areas. The convenience of push start, fuel efficiency and comfort of automatic transmission are enablers to this new trend, which has also seen more and more women adopt scooters as their choice of mobility. Michelin City Pro, a robust tyre will offer daily commuters with a comfortable in-city ride experience”

The Michelin City Pro tyres are available at premium Michelin dealerships and retailers across the country

In recent years, however, the MT-10 has begun to show its age, especially in terms of technology and rider aids. It was always on the thirsty side, too, and, by modern standards, the brakes were lacking. It was time for an update, which is why for 2022 Yamaha introduced a new MT-10 earlier this year.
