On the way, you will pass through the tiny village of Lamayuru, which is dominated by a massive monastery. It’s a sight to behold and warrants a stop. Several twists and turns later one is rewarded with a fascinating view – a confluence of the Zanskar river and the mighty Indus. A moment of caution here. Please do keep an eye on the watch. The sight of the turbulent grey of the Zanskar crashing into the serene green of the Indus is mesmerising enough to make you forget your destination.
Some more fabulous kilometres later, Leh arrives with twinkling lights of a massive Army camp. Negotiating through the crowded bazaar should be easy work for Anam and the TVS Scooty Zest 110 but riding continuously in this Oxygen starved rain shadow area takes its toll. Exhaustion would have easily given way to irritation, but for the peppiness of the scooter that has shown an excellent set of reliability credentials.
