The custom bike scenario has changed quite a lot over the last couple of years, yet still one name is synonymous with bike builders the world over: Marcus Walz.The custom bike builder has churned out many a famous pieces of art like the Iceman chopper for Kimi Raikonnen, Porsche Martini Racing edition, Ferrari Tunero custom and the Yamaha V-Max hyper modified edition. Now, here the deal, if you live in Europe you ought to know a parts & accessories company called Louis. The Hamburg-based company is Europe’s largest moto retailer, and recently celebrated its 75th anniversary. To mark this special occasion, Louis, in collaboration with Marcus Walz, have built a special edition Ducati Sport 1000.
This piece of art known as the,“Louis75 Jubiläumsbike Ducati” truly embodies the appeal of old world charm with state-of-the-art technology. What is even more special about this build is that votes were taken on Louis’ Facebook page regarding the basic concept – the wheels, handlebar, instruments and the finish of the custom bike. Walz chose a Ducati 1000 and rejigged the sheet metal to create a slim and wiry look. The tank, seat unit and rear bodywork are all cast out of aluminum as are the the rear frame and the fuel pump. This piece of beauty sports Öhlins fork’s in the front, and a custom-built height-adjustable suspension at the rear. This radical Ducati also sports Brembo monoblocks together with Lucas ‘Wave’ discs.
The V-Rod-style headlight adds aggression and compactness to the bike’s front end, moored to the tarmac by beefy Metzeler Racetec K3 tyres. An amazing titanium exhaust system developed by Akrapovic adds a few more additional grunt to this beast. This special edition Jubiläumsbike will soon go on tour around various Louis’ stores, and then it’ll be auctioned off with the proceeds donated for a charitable cause.
