Suzuki Access 125 BS VI Model Introduced

December 24, 2019 by Team Bike India Leave a Comment

The new Suzuki Access 125 will now make its transition from BS IV to BS VI as announced by the company. This is the first product to be rolled out compliant to the new emission norms from their portfolio.

The all-new Suzuki Access 125 will come with new key features including Eco Assist illumination, fuel-injected engine, external fuel-filling lid and an LED headlamp. The new Suzuki Access is powered by the updated BS VI 125-cc engine will deliver 8.7 hp at 6,750 rpm, 10 Nm at 5,500 rpm offering top-class power performance with lower fuel consumption. These power figures are slightly higher than the previous models. Even through the transition, power has not been compromised.

The new Suzuki Access 125’s Eco Assist illumination feature helps the rider to get optimum throttle usage with visible indicators to warn about the level of throttle opening. A green light indicates that the riding pattern is conducive to fuel-efficient riding. The advanced fuel-injection engine technology in the new Suzuki Access 125 provides smooth power delivery, thus offering optimum combustion efficiency in different riding conditions. It also helps in easy start-up even in cold conditions. The external fuel filling lid provides the convenience of re-fueling without having to open the seat. The new LED headlamp will help enhance night visibility for a stress-free ride. Offering a good balance on the road, the scooter is also equipped with combined brake system (CBS), which enables to operate both brakes only by the left lever. We, however, recommend using a combination of the front brake with priority, with the rear brake only for emergencies or on gravel or wet surfaces for optimal two-point braking.

The new Suzuki Access 125, as the company says, offers comfort as a necessity has a long seat, enlarged floorboard larger under-seat storage and easy start system for comfortable riding experience. Furthermore, the new Suzuki Access 125 is designed to offer a premium look with its rich bodywork, stylish edgy lines, LED tail-lamp and chrome-plated finish. Additionally, the new Special Edition Access 125 will offer standard USB DC socket for charging mobile phones on the go.

The company is thrilled and confident with the recent announcement of their first BS VI product with their new features and engine. The Suzuki Access 125 BS VI will be launched in India soon.

New Yamaha Ray ZR and Street Rally 125

December 23, 2019 by Team Bike India Leave a Comment

The new Yamaha Ray ZR and Street Rally were recently announced and will make their way into the 125-cc scooter segment. The new models come with several new features, new colours, and, of course, a whole new engine.

The new Yamaha Ray ZR and Street Rally are now powered by BS VI-compliant, air-cooled and fuel-injected 125-cc “Blue Core” engine that has a power output of 8.2 hp at 6,500 rpm and a peak torque of 9.7 Nm at 5,000 rpm. The power output is 30 per cent more and the economy figures are 16 per cent higher compared to their 113-cc predecessors. This is because of the new ‘start and stop’ feature that prevents engine idling and subsequent start with a single twist of the throttle, which uses sensors to assess the riding environment. A front disc brake is offered with a Unified Braking System’ (UBS) that also engages when the rear brake is used. The Smart Motor Generator (SMG) fitted into these 125-cc scooters uses electronic controls for a quieter engine start without the need for a conventional starter and also features a side-stand engine cut-off switch.

The styling concept of the new Yamaha Ray ZR is ‘Armored Energy’ which evokes a feeling of a powerful motorcycle. The sporty, sharp-looking headlight is Class-C compliant while the Y-shaped LED position light adds greater originality to design. The turn signals in the front and rear use individual mounting stalks like those used for motorcycles. The Ray ZR is available in both drum and disc brake versions, while the disc brake version gets a digital instrument cluster as a new feature. The new Ray ZR is available in a wide range of new colours: Dark Matte Blue, Metallic Black, Cyan Blue, Matte Red Metallic and Reddish Yellow Cocktail. The Ray ZR 125 FI is available for Rs 66,730 (ex-showroom)

The new Street Rally 125 FI also fuses motorcycle elements of those with a scooter and scatters them throughout design. Brush-guards shield the rider’s hands from oncoming airflow and also adds a sporty touch to the scooter. It additionally offers a fully-digital instrument cluster, side panels designed to look like a frame, and block-pattern tyres. The new Street Rally comes in two colours: Deep Metallic Purplish Blue and Sparkle Green. The Street Rally 125 FI is available for 70,730 (ex-showroom)

Motofumi Shitara, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India group of companies, said, “The new Ray ZR

125 FI and Street Rally 125 FI has been introduced into the market to cater to customers who are looking for adventure and fun with scooters that exceeds a mere purpose of daily commuting. The new Ray ZR 125 FI and the Street Rally 125 FI gets loaded with further power and design excellence that will enter the 125-cc scooter segment, so that with more power, new technologies and improved engineering, Yamaha can fulfil the passion of riding and adventure for scooter customers.”

Yamaha also introduced the Fascino 125. Read all about it here.

Yamaha YZF-R15 BS VI and MT-15 BS VI Introduced

December 23, 2019 by Azaman Chothia Leave a Comment

With every manufacturer getting ready for the transition from BS IV to BS VI, the Yamaha YZF-R15 BS VI and MT-15 BS VI updated models have also been introduced.

Yamaha R-15 image 1 WEB

The BS VI norms will kick in soon and, from what we’ve seen, most engines now face a slight drop in peak power output. The all-new BS VI-compliant units on the Yamaha YZF-R15 and MT-15 are the same 155-cc single-cylinder engines that now produce 18.6 hp at 10,000 rpm and 14.1 Nm at 8,500 rpm – a drop of 0.7 hp and 0.6 Nm at the same revs.

The new Yamaha YZF-R15 BS VI and MT-15 BS VI now get some brand new paint schemes. The YZF-R15 will now be offered in three new colour options – Thunder Grey, Racing Blue and Darknight, while the MT-15 will also be offered in a new attractive paint scheme which blends white with orange rims and stickers. This paint scheme, “Ice Fluo -Vermillion”, was seen on the MT-15 when the bike was showcased at the EICMA 2019.

When it comes to features, the Yamaha YZF-R15 BS VI and MT-15 BS VI now shut off the engine when they detect that the side-stand is down. They also get a new radial rear tyre. Considering that the bikes are BS VI-compliant they will be slightly heavier than the previous versions. Yamaha will soon reveal all the technical specifications of the motorcycles. The pricing for the different colour schemes of the YZF-R15 are as follows:

Thunder Grey – Rs 1,45,300
Racing Blue – Rs 1,45,900
Darknight – Rs 1,47,300

This shows us that the new bikes are priced at a premium of around Rs 4,500 over the BS IV versions. Prices for the MT-15 are as follows:

Metallic Black / Matte Blue – Rs 1,38,900

Fluo Vermillion- Rs 1,39,400

The bikes have already started reaching dealerships and we can’t wait to ride these new bikes to tell you all how they fare compared to their predecessors.

During the launch in Chennai, Motofumi Shitara, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India group of companies, said, “Yamaha’s 2020 strategy is clearly directed towards the cult of The Call of the Blue. In motorcycles, the MT excitement has been taken to the next level today with the Ice Fluo – Vermillion launch and standardizing rear radial tyre for improved aggression on the roads.

“Customers can now take the experience of all such exciting Yamaha two-wheelers at the new Blue Square outlets of Yamaha which is conceptualized to garner the racing spirit along with its comfort, ambience and the beacon of the Yamaha Blue. The company also plans to expand with its brand strategy of The Call of the Blue including product strategies and network in 2020. The Blue Square which was opened recently in Chennai will expand to 100 outlets in the year 2020 and eventually would consolidate the 125-cc scooter market share and sports market share for the brand. The Call of the Blue will further scale up in 2020 in order to offer the excitement, sporty and stylish experiences to a wider audience.”
