Hero MotoCorp’s Colombian Facility is Go

September 9, 2015 by Ravi Chandnani

The Indian two-wheeler maker inaugurates its facility out of India in Latin American state of Colombia

In a bid to expand their horizon beyond India, Hero MotoCorp today inaugurated their first manufacturing facility on foreign soil. In the presence of Pawan Munjal, Chairman, MD and CEO Hero MotoCorp and Colombian president Juan Manuel Santos, Hero MotoCorp started operations at their Colombian plant. With an initial capacity of 80,000 units, Hero MotoCorp will be exporting bikes from the Colombian facility to other Andean and Central American countries. Hero will be manufacturing ten models at this facility including their scooters. The production capacity, which currently stands at 80,000 units, will also go up to 150,000 units in the next phase of expansion. On this occasion, Pawan Munjal commented, “It is a historic milestone for Hero MotoCorp as this facility in Colombia is our first plant outside of India. I wish to thank the Honorable President for joining us on this memorable occasion. This facility will be a key resource for us as we plan to further consolidate our market position with a range of products across segments. The plant will also act as a guiding light, as we work towards transforming ourselves into a global automotive giant with manufacturing facilities across the globe.”
