The all-new 300-cc naked roadster from Honda, the CB300F, has gone on sale in the international market.
Honda Powersports have added a stunner to their line-up for those who want a practical, usable everyday naked bike. The CB300F follows in the footsteps of it bigger sibling the CB650F. The new model is based on the CBR300R, and uses a 286-cc liquid-cooled, four-valve, single-cylinder motor making 30.4 PS and 27 Nm of torque, paired to the familiar 6-speed transmission.
Mechanically, the bike is identical to the CBR250R which is on sale here. The same brakes (296mm front disc and 220mm rear disc), wheels (17”) and tyres (110/70 front and 140/70 rear) find their way on the CB300F. The 37mm front hydraulic fork has 118mm travel, while the rear monoshock has 103mm travel with a five adjustments for spring preload. Seat height is a comfortable 780mm. The fuel tank is 12.8 litres and the claimed efficiency is 30 km/l; not too bad considering the amount of machine you get for your money.
In the US, the bike is priced at $3,999 (Rs 2.5 lakh), however, that is including a number of taxes, and as we’ve seen, if launched in India, will be much lower. For instance, the CBR250R costs $4,199 (Rs 2.65 lakh) in the US, about Rs 50,000 more than what it does here. The CB300F costs about Rs 15,000 less than the faired 250 and about Rs 30,000 less than the CBR300R.
Of course, there’s no confirmation yet from Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India about the 300, although the 650 is coming our way very soon, though.
