The Hyosung GD 250 has been a hot topic over the past year for many. The motorcycling community in the country has been waiting for quite some time for Hyosung to break the news on the 250cc sports bike. The Korean manufacturer has finally shed light on the development of what will be known as the GD 250R. As speculated, the GD 250R is being built from the ground up and will be available in South Africa very soon, and we hope to see it in India soon after.
The bike will be powered by a 249cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, four-valve single-cylinder engine and will put out a claimed 28 PS at 9,500 RPM and 24.17 Nm torque at 7,000 RPM. A six-speed gearbox sends the power to the rear wheel via a chain drive. Suspension duties at the rear will be taken care by an offset mono-shock with adjustable preload and 37mm USD forks up front. The bike tips the scales at 155 kg.
When launched, the GD 250R should be priced in the Rs 2 lakh range, and will lock horns with the Honda CBR 250R and the KTM RC 200, both of which make for very formidable competition to say the least, in terms of both price and output.
