Hyosung to introduce GT125 and GT125R in India?

April 29, 2013 by Aninda Sardar Leave a Comment

Hyosung Superbikes India and their Indian partner DSK Motor are considering entering the highly competitive 125-150cc motorcycle segment. The kicker is that they don’t have any commuter-oriented motorcycle in their line-up. What they do have is the GT125 and the GT125R. These motorcycles are both powered by a high-revving 125cc, oil-cooled, 8-valve V-twin motor which pumps out 14.2 PS at 10,500 rpm and comes wrapped in a delectable package perfectly suited to put down that power. The GT125R will be one of the most attractive and sporty 125cc bike available in our market today, but at 166 kg dry, is rather o the heavy side of things. Don’t fret, because that figure includes front and rear discs, alloy wheels wrapped in fat rubber, a full fairing and a 17-litre fuel tank.

In India, the GT125R will compete with the likes of the well-established Yamaha YZF-R15, Honda CBR 150R as well as other offerings in the higher price range. If it does come in, it will be the only twin-cylinder motorcycle sporting a displacement as low as 125cc. We definitely want it soon, but we surely don’t expect it to be priced on par with any existing 125cc bike in the country.
