Jed Mildon, a 24-year-old from Taupo, New Zealand, landed the world’s first double backflip tailwhip at the Wellington, New Zealand stop of the Nitro Circus Live tour on Saturday, February 9. The trick, which involves two backflip rotations and a BMX tailwhip, was thrown in Westpac Stadium in front of a packed Nitro Circus Live crowd.

“It just feels like all my hard work is paying off,” said Mildon from the Nitro Circus Live New Zealand tour 2013. “He’s showing me tricks that I’ve never even seen before,” said X Games BMX Vert and Big Air competitor Chad Kagy, also on the Nitro Circus Live tour. “Tricks I didn’t even know existed,” Kagy added.

Mildon’s profile in the BMX world rose to immediate fame in May of 2011 following footage of the 26-year-old landing theworld’s first triple backflip on a BMX bike in Taupo, New Zealand. “This is the perfect result to three intensive months of practicing and training for this moment,” said Mildon following the jump in 2011, which landed him in the Guinness Book of World Records. Mildon competed in BMX Big Air at X Games 17 in Los Angeles. He received a last minute invite to the event, but was unable to land the triple backflip during the competition. Mildon finished in sixth place.
