Yamaha have launched the India-specific Saluto 125-cc motorcycle at Rs 52,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

India Yamaha Motor have launched their all-new Saluto 125-cc commuter motorcycle. The ‘economical and practical Indian family motorcycle’ is being produced at the company’s new plant in Chennai and deliveries of the bike will start from May 2015.

The 125cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine of the Saluto is based on the Yamaha FZ v2.0’s 149-cc engine and incorporates the company’s ‘Blue Core’ engine technology, to balance performance and efficiency. The Saluto is BS IV-compliant, and thus, will replace the old SS125 and YBR125 BS III-compliant motorcycles in Yamaha’s line-up.

The Saluto’s engine produces 8.3 PS at 7,000 RPM and 10.1 Nm at 4,500 RPM, and boasts a claimed fuel efficiency of 78 km/l. Seat height of the motorcycle is 805 mm, the ground clearance is 180 mm, and its kerb weight is just 112 kg. It is available in two colours, black and red, and has a simple yet sporty styling to attract buyers in this high-volume segment.
