Ducati’s new Hyperstrada to be launched in India

March 7, 2013 by Aninda Sardar Leave a Comment

For all those who lust after the much loved Multistrada or the extreme Hypermotard, but find them a little too out of reach or, for whatever reason, a tad excessive; there’s a smaller, more sensible alternative. Ducati will introduce the new Hyperstrada adventure tourer in the Indian market by end-May 2013. It brings a smaller capacity engine and features an equipment list which makes it a touring-focused machine which is equally suitable on and off the road.

The Hyperstrada uses an 821.1cc version of the water-cooled Testastretta L-twin and makes 110 PS at 9,250 rpm and a heady 89 Nm of torque at 7,750 rpm paired to a 6-speed transmission. It also receives a windscreen, a touring seat and a slightly taller handlebar. Dry weight is an impressive 181 kg, with the kerb weight rising up to just over 200 kg. Ducati has given it a set of Pirelli Scorpion Trail tyres with a 120/70 ZR17 up front and a 180/55 ZR17 at the rear. The Hyperstrada receives Ducati’s Safety Pack of 3-level ABS and 8-level Ducati Traction Control along with preset Riding Modes. Twin semi-rigid side pannier boxes totaling 50 litres, two 12V outlets and satellite navigation are standard as well. If more storage space is needed, a 31-litre top box is available as an accessory.

The 2013 Ducati Hyperstrada has a price tag of $13,295 (Rs.7.20 lakh approx) internationally, before duties and taxes.

In recent years, however, the MT-10 has begun to show its age, especially in terms of technology and rider aids. It was always on the thirsty side, too, and, by modern standards, the brakes were lacking. It was time for an update, which is why for 2022 Yamaha introduced a new MT-10 earlier this year.
