Along with the thrill and exhilaration that it offers, the perils of the Isle of Man TT is only too well known. Cementing this dread within even the top tier of professional motorsport, MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi have stated that the Isle of Man TT is just too dangerous. In a recent interview with Top Gear, the Italian legend told the interviewer that his biggest fear is being injured. He said: ‘I did a lap of the Isle of Man, and I understand why people love this because it’s f**king awesome – it’s unbelievable, great. But, unfortunately, it’s too dangerous. Sometimes, riders are crazy. The Isle of Man is very difficult. If you make a mistake, maybe it’s the last mistake.’
It goes without saying that Rossi’s statement will likely disappoint his legions of fans who have always secretly wondered how Vale would fare on the 38-mile course. If you might remember, Rossi visited the island in 2009, where he handed out awards after the TT Superbike race, won by John McGuiness – later on piloting a Yamaha R1 alongside legendary Italian racer Giacomo Agostini.
