Hero MotoCorp’s 2014 line-up

October 10, 2013 by Jim Gorde 3 Comments

2014-Hero-MotoCorp-ZMRShowcases technological innovations; unveils 15 new offerings

Hero MotoCorp (HMCL) gave a hint of its future plans with the unveiling of fifteen new offerings at Gurgaon today. These served to showcase its focus on the triple theme of “Safetech”, “StyleTech” and “Innovation”. The new offerings and variants bring innovative features to the market, including stop-start, integrated braking, side stand indicator, and an electronic immobiliser.

The all-new models on display included the Splendor iSmart, Karizma ZMR, Karizma R, Xtreme, and Pleasure. The 100cc Splendor iSmart incorporates i3S (Idle Stop and Start System) that, like in several new-age cars, turns off the engine during idling and turns it on when needed, thus saving fuel. Interestingly, HMCL has filed a patent for this innovation.

The updated 100cc Pleasure scooter features IBS – Integrated Braking System (patent pending) that applies the front and rear brakes simultaneously for improved safety. Other features include a mobile charging socket, a lockable glove box, a boot light in the luggage box, and a combination ignition lock with seat opening and side stand indicator.

The updated 150cc Xtreme incorporates an electronic immobiliser that prevents the engine from being turned on without the correct key. It also includes a side-stand sensor with automatic ignition cut-off for safety. Other highlights are the headlight with “eyebrow” lights, new LED tail-light with light guides, and a mobile charger socket.

The leading two-wheeler manufacturer also displayed two new variants of the 223cc Karizma – the ZMR and the R. Both bikes include twin headlamps, a sporty handlebar, race-inspired belly pan, new side and front fairing, and wider tires. The only visual difference is the R is semi-faired while the ZMR has a complete front fairing, similar to the current models.

The company also displayed refreshes and variants of existing platforms including the 100cc ‘HF Dawn’ and ‘HF Deluxe’ with side stand indicator and clear lens side indicators. The new 100cc Splendor Pro and 125cc Super Splendor feature new graphics, dial design, and side stand indicator. In addition, the Splendor Pro has a new carrier cowl and black alloy wheels.

The 100cc Passion Pro includes a side stand indicator, service reminder, and an all black saree guard. The 100cc HF Deluxe Eco is equipped with air foils on the leg guards, aero mirrors claimed to lower air resistance at high speeds, and tyres with low rolling friction. The 100cc Glamour and Glamour FI feature new graphics and redesigned dials.

HMCL plans to launch the 15 models before the 2014 Auto Expo and a total of 50 models by the end of the next fiscal year.
