Honda Promotes Road Safety at 32nd India International Trade Fair

December 3, 2012 by Bike India Team Leave a Comment

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt Ltd (HMSI) participated in the 32nd India International Trade Fair at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from 14-27 November 2012 in association with the Delhi Traffic Police at their pavilion.

Activities for young children included role plays and interactive games for a “fun way” of learning. There were also Special Painting Competitions for over a 1,000 children from the age group of 5-8 years with gifts for the winners.

Honda arranged a practical riding experience for 9-12 year old children in a protected road environment designed specially for the purpose. The company trained 1,100 children on its CRF 50 model to help them understand why safe riding is important. Parents were advised to not allow children access to vehicles before they are at the correct legal age to ride or drive. The families were also presented ‘safe family’ framed photographs.

For riders aged 16 years and above, riding trainers (who are also present at all HMSI dealerships) helped them to experience more than 100 possible road dangers.

Over 2,000 visitors got to participate in this virtual experience, and more than 50,000 visitors to the Trade Fair gave an overwhelming response to Honda’s initiative of spreading road safety awareness and knowledge.

Suzuki unveils GSX-R1000 Yoshimura special edition

December 3, 2012 by Bike India Team Leave a Comment

Japanese exhaust specialists Yoshimura have always been associated with Suzuki since the early days.

Now, Suzuki have unveiled a special edition Yoshimura GSX-R in honour of the Japanese tuning brand’s association with the motorcycle giant. To start things off, this special edition has been decked up with a unique paint-job, quite literally shouting out the ‘Yoshimura’ brand name. The superbike showcases all about performance even from a stand-still, sporting custom seats, OZ wheels, mirror block-off plates, wave brake discs, and a rear shock linkage kit have all been decked up to this special edition GSX-R.

Although not many off the technical details have been disclosed of this special edition 2013 GSX-R1000, we reckon Suzuki is going to market this stunner in very limited numbers to wealthy connoisseurs in Europe and the US of A. And, as with most limited edition works of art, the price tag has been kept very hush-hush for now.

Delhi police ropes in Sonam Kapoor as safety ambassador

December 3, 2012 by Bike India Team Leave a Comment

In our country we all are in awe of our movie stars; we adore them and look up to them and these movie stars are trend setters.

Recently, Delhi traffic police roped in actress Sonam Kapoor to encourage woman riders to wear helmets.

On Saturday morning, Sonam Kapoor surprised many Delhiites by sporting a helmet while posing with a two-wheeler near India Gate. During the photo-shoot the actress was seen advising motorists, particularly women, to always wear a helmet even if they are riding pillion. Satyendra Garg, Joint Comissioner of Police (traffic) was also present during the event. The actress joined the traffic police’s drive due to the sad demise of two sisters – Santosh (35) and Neeta (24) – who got killed in a road accident while riding a two-wheeler in the Ashok Vihar area. Both sisters were not wearing helmets.

Speaking to the media, Satyendra Garg said,”While the exact cause of the accident and who was at fault is still being investigated, the fact remains that the man riding the motorcycle was wearing a helmet and hence escaped unhurt. Should we not learn from this?”.

According to the data available with the Delhi traffic police, 64 women have died in road accidents while commuting on two-wheelers without helmets in 2010. In 2011, 52 women died in similar accidents. So far in 2012, 35 women have died while riding a two-wheeler without a helmet. With Ms. Kapoor being roped in the campaign, Delhi police are sure it will encourage many women to put on a helmet for riding.

Royal Enfield Cafe Racer to be launched in India

November 30, 2012 by Bike India Team Leave a Comment

First showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo the prototype cafe racer from Royal Enfield was quite the eye candy.

The cafe racer concept has been the talk of the town since quite some time now and if official sources are to be believed, come 2013 it might be a reality for India too. Royal Enfield have stated that this Royal Enfield Cafe Racer 535 motorcycle promises to be the lightest and fastest Enfield yet!

Surely, people in India usually don’t associate a Bullet being light and fast, something quite a bit poles apart from the ones we use in India. A Royal Enfield dealer in the United States have revealed that this could possibly be the best, fastest and coolest motorcycle from the ‘Madras legends’. With a kerb weight of 170kg, souped up with a 535cc UCE fuel injected engine this beast of a bike is all ready to change the way we look at the Royal Enfield. The cafe racer will sport an electric starter and a plastic front mudguard, a first for Royal Enfield.

Other tit-bits include alloy wheels, a longer seat (the pillion might have to get squeezed in), two different choice of exhausts and other add-on goodies. With the motorcycle all set to be unveiled at the 2012 Long Beach International Motorycycle Show next week, the cafe racer concept is all ready to take the world by storm.

Marco Simoncelli replica helmets by AGV

November 30, 2012 by Bike India Team 1 Comment

It has been over a year since we lost the young lion but the legacy of ‘Super Sic’ lives on in our hearts.

Helping commemorate Simoncelli’s spirit, AGV helmets are realizing a more accurately re-styled Marco Simoncelli replica helmet. The famed No.58 Super Sic helmet, has been officially authorized by the Simoncelli family.

The helmet sports the San Carlo logo on the chin guard, Marco’s No. 58 number on the temple, a Dianese logo on the top of the shell, and completing the masterpiece is a heart with the colors of the Japanese flag on the back. The replica helmet is identical to the one which Marco wore during the 2011 MotoGP championship season.

The AGV GP-Tech version (Full-face version) costs €749 (INR 52,000) approx, and comes with a special t-shirt, while the AGV Bali Copter (Half version) costs around €149 (INR 10,000) approx.
