WSBK all set to debut at the Buddh International Circuit

Ladies and gentlemen, the prestigious World Superbike Championship is finally making its way to Indian shores.

Jaypee Sports International Limited (JPSI) and Infront Motor Sports have inked down an agreement to hold the WSBK championship rounds on the 9th and 10th of March.

 

The WSBK championship, founded in 1988, consists of a series of rounds which are held on permanent racing facilities and each round had two races and the results of each race were combined to determine two annual winners, one for the riders and the other for the manufacturers. Almost all the renowned superbike makers such as Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Ducati, Aprilia, and BMW take part in the World Superbike Championship which is regulated by the FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme).

JPSI MD and CEO, Mr Sameer Gaur has stated that they are extremely happy to announce the World Superbike Championship at the BIC. The WSBK is specially significant for manufacturers and customers because it uses highly modified production superbikes, thus differentiating it from the multimillion one-off prototype machines in MotoGP. The event it will be a treat for the eyes of Indian motorsport enthusiasts who had thoroughly enjoyed the F1 Indian Grand Prix last year at the Buddh International Circuit.

Pulsar 200 NS officially launched!

The wait is finally over. The most awaited bike from the Bajaj stable has been officially launched

There has been a lot of speculations regarding why this, the most exciting revision of the Pulsar in a long time, has been delayed, after the first impression ride offered by the firm back in February 2012. Apparently, the company was making some last moment adjustments to the bike on customer and media feedback, like upgrading the headlight bulb from 35 to 55 Watt.

The 200 NS comes with a triple-spark, 4 valve, SOHC layout with fueling handled by a Mikuni UCD33 carburettor. It is also the first Pulsar to get a monoshock, while suspension duties up front are taken care of by meaty 37mm forks. With a kerb weight of 145 kg and 23.52 PS of power on tap at 9.500 RPM the all-new Pulsar was a hoot to ride around the Chakan test track. Now we are waiting and hoping it to be as much fun to ride on the city roads too, which you can expect to see soon in our forthcoming issue. The new generation Pulsar has been priced at Rs 94,280 (OTR, Pune).

Bajaj Discover 125 ST – All the Details

The 125cc segment has always been one of the most important segments for two-wheeler manufactures in India. With increasing number of manufactures focusing their attention on this segment it was only a matter of time before Bajaj had to radically re-invent the popular Discover series. The good thing is that this time the changes are not only cosmetic but also delves deep under the skin.

The new design is sportier than before, now focusing more on a youthful appearance than the commuter-biased looks of its predecessor. The bike has been christened as 125ST, where the suffix stands for ‘Sport Tourer’. The headlamp is borrowed from the Pulsar 135 LS, and the tail lamps are the now de rigueur LEDs. The instrumentation console houses a large analog speedometre, along with fuel gauge and tell-tale lights. Other small changes include aluminum footpegs, new alloy wheels and split tyre-hugger among others.

Now the mechanical details. The highlight of the new bike is a Nitrox-damped monoshock suspension at the rear. Continuing the family tradition, the ST features a twin spark, 4-valve engine developing an maximum power output of 13PS @ 9,000 rpm and 10.78Nm of turning force at 6,500rpm. Bajaj claims that the new Discover has best in class power to weight ratio and a top speed of 105 kp/h.

The company states that the new ST will be sold alongside the current Discover 125 DTS-i and will be priced slight higher than the latter. So, considering that the DTS-i (disc) retails for Rs 53,380 (OTR, Pune), we expect the ST to go on sale for a premium of a couple of thousand rupees.
