Meet the Lexmoto ZSX 125

April 16, 2013 by Aninda Sardar Leave a Comment

The motorcycle in these pictures looks eerily familiar, doesn’t it? Thing is, slowly but steadily, the commuter market in the UK has been gaining more importance for manufacturers like Honda and Yamaha, amongst others. Offerings from the Japanese manufacturers like the CBF 125 and the YBR 125 are the market leaders in this segment, superseding their European counterparts. With the ever increasing duties on import bikes compromising of 500c and above, manufacturers in the Land of the Queen are focusing more on smaller capacity bikes.

The latest to join this brand wagon is Lexmoto, a Chinese brand in a partnership with Piaggio that is now offering the ZSX 125 in the UK market. As the name indicates, the ZSX is powered by a 125cc single-cylinder mill, with the gearing designed to suit commuter riding in Britain. The bikes makes 10.65 PS of peak power and 9.2 Nm of torque. The ZSX 125 is priced at £1,499 (INR 1.24 lakh), making the Lexmoto offering cheaper by £1,000 (INR 83,211) than the CBF and YBR. Although this motorcycle is not India relevant we certainly do wish that Piaggio bring the Lexmoto ZSX 125 to the Indian market and add a little spunk in the rather dull commuter segment, but certainly the pricing will have to be worked on for our market.
