Honda CBR500R launched in India at shock price!

April 1, 2013 by Aninda Sardar 1 Comment

Honda has quietly launched the all-new CBR500R at a truly irresistible price of Rs 2.2 lakh! Honda becomes the first manufacturer in India to offer a 500cc twin-cylinder motorcycle at such a price point. The move comes at a point when Bajaj is enjoying time in the spotlight in the run to the launch of the KTM 390 Duke; which is expected to be priced in the same bracket.

The CBR500R sports a 500cc high-revving parallel-twin which makes 48 PS of power and 43 Nm of torque. The six-speed transmission with overdrive ratios allows brisk acceleration and a top speed of 180 km/h. Handling is top notch thanks to its light weight, top quality suspension units, grippy tyres and responsive brakes. To elaborate; braking duties are handled by Honda’s new combi-brake system with ABS which uses a 298mm ventilated petal rotor up front with a 240mm petal disc at the rear.

The new CBR500R will hit showrooms across the country over this week.

Wait, what, you’re still reading this with bated breath? Oh, well then, April Fool, folks! But, on a serious note, pick up this month’s issue of Bike India for our international correspondent, Roland Brown’s full review of the CB500F and CBR500R twins. Honda CBR500R
