KTM 390 Duke is closer! Ready to Race?

April 17, 2013 by Aninda Sardar Leave a Comment

Bike India is in Salzburg with KTM taking a closer look at the soon-to-be-launched 390 Duke; the company’s second offering and, may we add, one which is just as equally anticipated as the 200 Duke, if not even more so. The first picture shows the new 390 Duke, with just a few changes in appearance, some subtle, yet some contrastingly loud!

The 390 Duke is based the 200 Duke and uses the same hardware apart from the larger engine, improved molybdenum steel front forks and the addition of ABS. The high-revving 373.2-cc, four-valve, single cylinder motor is fuel-injected and puts out 44 PS of power. The dry weight is just 139 kg. Put those figures together and you get a power-to-weight ratio of 316.5 PS/ton! Consider a 68 kg rider and a tank of fuel, the gross weight will be around 210 kg; which still works out to well over 200 PS/ton! That figure is way more than what any motorcycle on sales in India offers at that price point. Coming to the price, the 390 Duke will be priced at an obvious premium but it will be competitive any way you look at it.

Stay tuned for more here.
