California Superbike School (CSS) marks its entry in South-East Asia with Chennai as its base. The school is known to have its presence in 15 countries and operates on more than 90 race tracks. The school will provide techniques of riding and cornering to a few selected riders over a two day camp. The first camp will be held between February 16th and 17th and the second camp from February 20th to 21st.
CSS was started in 1980 by the famous biking instructor, Keith Code, and has trained almost 1,50,000 riders around the world. The alumni list of the school include names such as world superbike champion James Toseland, MotoGP 125cc world champion Thomaas Luthi and other MotoGP champions Chris Vermuellen, John Kocinski and Wayne Rainey amongst others. Andy Ibbot, who personally coached Thomaas Luthi is expected to be present at the school's camp in Chennai.
An Indian home appliance brand, Preethi, is known to have sponsored the CSS's entry in India. It is believed that the managing director of the company, TT Varadarajan, is an avid follower of biking sport. The company is known to be providing 24 riders a chance to get trained by the coaches of the famous school. 16 out of these 24 riders are completely sponsored by the company. Red Rooster Racing (RRR) has also come together to partner Preethi for the event. RRR is said to be providing the coaches of the school with bikes and their kits along with the mechanics. RRR is known to encourage Indian talent in the field of motor sports and is also present internationally. The fee for the camp will be around Rs 40,000 which the not sponsored rider's will have to shell out.
